Producing regional and high-quality food is a vocation that is often passed down through generations. The many volunteer missions in the flood areas in particular have shown that our farmers also ensure the well-being of us all in many other situations. They maintain and preserve our cultural landscape 365 days a year.
To ensure that our farmers have secure prospects for the future, reliability and planning security in the political framework are of the utmost importance. Although the German government has now partially withdrawn the proposal to suddenly cancel the agricultural diesel refund and the tax exemption for agricultural and forestry vehicles without compensation, our farmers are still under great pressure due to the numerous restrictions imposed by politicians in just one year.
The competitiveness of Germany as a centre of agriculture is at stake. We will therefore continue to stand by our farmers when they point out the unreasonable burdens in this week.
In line with the call by the German Farmers' Association, the state farmers' associations and the Land schafft Verbindung initiative, the focus of the protests will also be on solution-oriented dialogue in the interests of our country and German agriculture.
